Project Focus

The Mlatho Project

Building on the Fun Day experience, Luminari Care developed the Mlatho Project — an evidence-based initiative assessing the mental health and psychosocial needs of juveniles across Reformatory Centres in Malawi.

Building on the Fun Day experience, Luminari Care developed the Mlatho Project — an evidence-based initiative assessing the mental health and psychosocial needs of juveniles across Chirwa, Thyolo, and Mpemba Reformatory Centres. The project will identify service gaps, strengthen referral pathways, and generate recommendations to improve mental health care, rehabilitation, and reintegration programmes for children in conflict with the law.
This positions Luminari Care not simply as a service provider, but as a rare, evidence-generating actor in a policy space where data on juvenile mental health in Malawi is almost non-existent.
